Autumn Walker

Autumn Walker is the granddaughter of Scott and Lorraine Walker.  You will find us with her at all of the competitions and at the arena training. Autumn is a very competitive and focused individual in any discipline which she participates.

Autumn started competing in the spring of 2019 with 1 show at RMSJ where she fell off almost as much as she stayed on riding her first horse "Clover". Clover was sold and Sephora was purchased. Autumn's first ride on Sephora in the training ring ended with Sephora launching Autumn into the arena wall.  Needless to say we were not the only ones concerned that Sephora was far too much horse for Autumn to handle but Autumn was not phased by the fall and got right back on and continued to train. By the fall of 2020 Autumn and Sephora had developed a pretty good relationship and we thought they might be ready to take on a show so we entered them into Royal West in the 0.7 jumper class. They were horrible!  Autumn had made huge strides in riding skill but had absolutely no mental development in the sport and her nerves got the best of her, but by the final day her and Sephora finally got back in sync and Autumn got her first ribbon on Sephora.

Between the 2020 and 2021 season Autumn trained a minimum of 3 days a week and came into the 2021 season ready to win, and win she did.  She won three 1.1 meter championships at RMSJ and one at Thunderbird. After the 2021 season Autumn continued to train 5 - 6 days a week and 7 on some weeks.  She was now working with three horses. Autumn and Sephora moved up to the 1.15 meter class where they won the championship in their first event at RMSJ. Autumn's focus is now on her development and progression into the Grand Prix Ring.

In the 2022 season Autumn won a total of 9 Championships, 1 reserve champion, 47 first place finishes, 26 second place finishes and numerous others for a total of 127 ribbon placings.

Autumn will continue her training as well as doing ground work with our youngsters bringing them up to understand and trust her once in the ring.

Autumn is currently Riding with Trademark Stables and being trained by Canadian Olympian Lisa Carlsen and Dayton Gorsline. Lisa is still a frequent member of Canadian Nations Cup teams. Dayton is the jumping youth development program advisor for the Equestrian Canada Jumping Talent ID Program.

Our passion is horses of all kinds, sizes and breeds.  We raise, train, buy, sell, and show horses in a multitude of disciplines. We are located near Okotoks in southern Alberta about 20 minutes south of the Calgary city limits and Spruce Meadows.

Horses have always been in Lorraine’s life.  She started riding at 9 years old and then at 12 purchased her first horse for $275 with help from her grandpa.  Her first horse was Princess Delight (Dee) and she was a registered Appaloosa.  Barely horse size at 14.3, she took Lorraine to many shows and gymkhana events after the bucking was rode out of her!  She was barely three years old when Lorraine got her, only ridden a couple of times, and for the first year she would buck more often than not!  Many horses later and a very long break in owning horses and riding (to do university degrees, raise children etc), we have finally gotten back into the horse business but this time, no gymkhana (well, we should never say NO), this time, it is jumping, hunters and dressage!

Autumn Walker is now our main focus as a rider and competitor. Autumn also started riding when she was 9 years old on school horses. After falling off of the jumpers far too often we put her into a Dressage training program for a year before allowing her to continue on with the jumpers. In fall 2019 Autumn had to put freestyle skiing on the sidelines as a recreational sport in order to focus on training and competing as a jumper.

If you would like to come for a visit or to check out some of our sale horses, we do have a couple of creek-side camping spots available currently and are working on adding more guest services (stay tuned). There are currently no services available at these sites but we can supply a generator if needed.

I am the keeper of this website as well as hauler of horses, general laborer, groom, and support for Autumn when at horse shows. That's me and Sephora in the image.

In the winter I design and build training and competition courses for Freestyle Canada as well as many of the freestyle ski clubs in Alberta and across the country. I also serve as a major official at numerous Canada Cup, Noram, and World Cup events throughout the winter. I have been involved with the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer Alberta, Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, and Crabbe Mountain New Brunswick as part of the organizing committee for freestyle snow sport, a major official, and course designer builder.
