2024 Season Overview

Autumn started the 2024 season in January at Desert International Horse Park (DIHP) in California training with Lisa Carlsen and Dayton Gorsline.

Autumn and her horse Sephora worked toward a complete change in riding style. The change did not come easy and Sephora fought every bit of it, by the middle of February it was obvious that Sephora was not going to accept the changes that were being made and we were going to have to find a different horse (there were many days I would have traded the horse for a 6 pack of cold beer). In March Autumn tried Maracibo, a Mexican Warmblood that had been competing up to 1.45 meters and the two seemed to have an instant bond and the horse had been trained properly unlike Sephora. The horse was available on a lease with purchase option so we took it. Autumn did not have an opportunity to compete on Caibo while at DIHP as the deal transpired during the last week of the show in March.

Horse Expo Canada in Red Deer Alberta was the next stop at the end of April for a 3 day jumping clinic with Alex Grayton.

The May Classic at Spruce Meadows was our official start to the 2024 season in Canada and Autumns first competition on Caibo. The two performed very well together and it looked like the start of a great combination, unfortunately the second time into the ring Caibo came out favoring a front leg and upon a vet check a fractured cannon bone was discovered which was attributed to landing on a rock or something equally as hard in the footing. Caibo was out for the entire balance of the 2024 season with no chance of even light training until November or December.

Ballerina was busy being rehabbed by Sergey  Zayika and was to become Autumns second jumper. As training and competition progressed through the summer we started looking for a new home for Sephora and found one at the Summer Fort Classic at T-Bird. In October we headed back to DIHP with Ballerina and Caibo to finish out the 2024 season.

As much as we love attending shows at RMSJ we will not be frequenting the venue as often as we have in the past. Autumns focus is on her progression into the Grand Prix Ring and a spot on the National Youth Team.

With this focus in mind we will be attending more shows offering points toward world rankings and since RMSJ is not sanctioned we will be using it more-so as a training venue if at all.
