Ballerina

2014 Westphalian Mare

Ballerina was born in Germany.  She came to Florida as a three year old where she commenced her initial training as a hunter at Gavin Moylan’s stables. In March of 2021 we brought Ballerina to Canada.  Autumn  started her training with Ballerina over the winter of 2021/2022.

Ballerina’s 2021 debut show season in Canada was very successful.  Her first showing was at Amberlea in Edmonton in June 2021.  At this show she took numerous firsts in the hunter ring as well as overall champion. At Rocky Mountain Show Jumping’s summer series Ballerina won many firsts and a derby.

The highlights of Ballerina’s show season was her introduction to the higher levels of showing at Thunderbird Show Park in August 2021 and her introduction to the jumper ring. She did very well in the 3’6” hunters and it was her first time  in the jumper ring in the 1.10 metres.  She did incredibly well and actually won a reserve champion in the 1.10 metre division. The next event was the Royal West Canadian Championships in Calgary. Ballerina was entered into the Hunter division and after the first event it was apparent she wanted to jump as she was clearing the jumps by a half meter so we pulled her from hunters and put her back into the jumper ring. After doing well in the events it was decided to enter her into the 1.2 meter championship to see how she would do. To say she did well is and understatement.  In the 3 day event Ballerina accumulated only 0.27 faults and was crowned the Canadian National Champion.

Ballerina injured her leg on the steel perimiter fence while in her paddock in early 2023 and spent the entire summer off from training. In September 2023 Ballerina was moved to Take Off Equestrian out of Birnam Wood Stables into the care of Serge Zayika whom very slowly and patiently rehabbed her. Autumn will start training on Ballerina full time once again starting May 2024 and she will become one of Autumns full time competition horses along with Caibo for the 2024 season.

MaracaiboLS LaSilla

2010 Mexican Warmblood Gelding

Maracaibo (Caibo) has amassed an impressive number of FEI points in classes up to 1.45 meters. Caibo will be one of Autumns 2 jumpers for the 2023/2024 season along with Ballerina.

Caibo will be Autumn's schoolmaster to help bring her up successfully and safely beyond 1.30 meters and to help Autumn understand how to successfully bring Ballerina up to her full potential which we hope to be 1.45 meters or better.

Caibo sustained a leg injury at Spruce Meadows and is now out for the summer and will start undergoing rehab in September and will hopefully be ready to go for Thermal in November.

Caibo is on a 1 year 60%/40% lease/purchase plan and may or may not be purchased outright

Sephora

2010 Canadian Warmblood Mare

Sephora was Autumn’s only jumper for the 2023 season.  Autumn started showing Sephora at Royal West in October, 2020.  At this show, Autumn was only doing .7 metres.  Fast forward to August 2021 at Thunderbird Show Park and Autumn and Sephora won the 18 and under 1.10 metre division.  In July 2022 we moved Autumn & Sephora up to the 1.15 meter class where their debut was two first place finishes and show champion. Autumn and Sephora started the 2023 season at 1.20 meters  and claimed their first win at Amberlea Meadows. Autumn and Sephora were crowned grand champions by Alberta Equestrian for the 2023 season at 1.20 meters.

Prior to Autumn taking over the reins with Sephora, she was ridden by Brooke Hartwick.  In the 2020 August show at Thunderbird, Brooke and Sephora won the 1.25 metre adult/amateur championship.

The 2023/2024 winter season at Thermal International Show Park was an intense training session for both Autumn and Sephora to train both to comfortably and safely move to the higher heights. Sephora was showing signs of show fatigue and was very stubborn about being retrained. Our plan was to give her a year off and possibly breed her but with Caibo injured we had to put her back in the ring. Sephora has come back a new horse and she will continue to be jumped through the summer.

Ginger

2016 Welsh Cross Grade Mare

Sold fall 2022

Ginger (or WPH Ginger Snap registered name) has been undergoing training as a hunter and attended two shows during the 2021 season at Rocky Mountain Show Jumping.  She won several firsts and in her second show was Reserve Champion in the 2’3” hunter ring.  As Ginger is only six years old and in her second year of showing, we have great hope she will continue and further her career as a hunter. Unfortunately there was little to no interest and very poor attendance at the pony hunter events we attended  in 2022 and putting a pony into regular hunter classes is a challenge as the judging can be quite biased against ponies.

We put Ginger and Autumn in the .85 open jumpers where she took first place in all three events and won the show championship.  Ginger  continued competing as both a jumper and hunter.

Ginger’s story has had some sad moments but this little girl has a big heart.  She was rescued from her travels to a slaughter house as a two year old with a foal at her side.  She bears a brand on her shoulder from the people that put her on that truck.  Although she had much trauma in her young life she is now very loved and puts her heart and soul into giving back to reward us for believing in her. Without knowing her story you would never guess that she hasn't been with a loving family all of her life.

Ginger is the sweetest pony in the world.
